Neue Projects: The Female Future of the NFT Space

The current state of the NFT space is known to be notoriously dominated by men. According to the latest NFT ArtTactic report, the statistics show an overwhelmingly male majority in the audience sector as well as in the artist sector. There are many reasons for this trend which we won’t be going into.

Instead, allow us to introduce an all-new, female-led business, established by two Sotheby’s Institute of Art alumni, that focuses on bridging the gap between the traditional contemporary art space and the crypto art space–this is Neue Projects.

Jessica Tatievski & Margarita Kiryushkina, founders of Neue Projects

Neue Projects is a Digital Art Consultancy founded by Margarita Kiryushkina and Jessica Tatievski in New York. Their main goal is to build an ethical and transparent business model of promoting NFT artists and engaging various art market players in the digital and Web3 space–not an easy venture. The project was born in August of 2021 out of a common belief that, with the definition of art shifting and expanding, there’s a resurgent need for a more transparent approach as well as a strong female lead within the crypto space.

Neue Projects’ current venture is called Psycho Chambers, a 13-year-long adventure created by multidisciplinary artist Rob Mazurek that goes by the name Androidlovecry. The project encompasses Androidlovecry's experimental opera, Book of Sound, which will be split into 13 acts and where each act is accompanied by an overture - a synopsis of each act's main themes, named Psycho Chambers. The work is based on the fictional writings of Helder Velasquez-Smith, a writer, alchemist, scientist, astronomer, artist, and poet that crafts his observations at the end of the Anthropocene into The Book of Sound. The artistic endeavor within this opera is to combine exploratory sound with visual interpretation from his paintings through a computer algorithm to fuse the limitless possibilities of cathartic moments toward a utopian future.

Androidlovecry is naturally driven to experiment with sound and traditional painting and paired with his quest to illustrate possibilities of new worlds, Neue Projects is excited to curate Psycho Chambers through the means of NFTs. The work provokes a heightened sense through an array of expansive emotions and the tension that is derived from the first overture lays the perfect foundation for the viewers to be in touch with themselves, their beliefs, and the future they envision. Psycho Chambers Overture 01 features over 270 sound and generative art NFTs and will launch in the middle of August of this year.

Aside from Psycho Chambers, Neue Projects’ focus in the coming months is to keep building an NFT space “where collectors, artists, and art connoisseurs come together to talk, collect, and engage with contemporary art.” A drop of their Genesis collection is coming soon, alongside collaborations with artists that the company will be assisting with crypto art space integration. Simultaneously, they plan on working with leading art institutions and assisting them in tapping into this new market and re-directing some of their strategies to the digital realm. Neue Projects see themselves as a new type of market agent, prioritising the artists and curation of their works, which fits the contemporary narrative of the digital realm whilst making the works commercially viable.

In the long-term, Neue Projects is planning its expansion beyond artist collaborations into exhibitions which bring NFTs and traditional art together, advise multi-medium collectors on art purchases, and involve their community in social and educational projects–once again bridging the gap between the two art worlds.

Like true NFT connoisseurs, Margo and Jessica collect NFTs themselves. In our conversation, we asked them to share some of their personal highlights from the mysterious and oversaturated NFT space. They shared:

Our true goal and intentions in the web3 space are to support artists we resonate with and whose art speaks to us on different levels. As of today, the NFTs that we collect are from artists we know and believe in. We do have a tendency to support women artists in the space–some notable NFTs that we own are from World of Women and Women Rise. Some other artists that we follow and are excited to see what they have up their sleeves are Boss Beauties, XCOPYFewouciousClaire SilverJeff Davis, and Shir Pakman.

Neue Projects is a prime example of the future of the art world, bridging the gap between the traditional art market and the new, highly exciting crypto world. In today’s world, it’s impossible to resist the fast-approaching digital change, immanent integration of Web3, and the increasing interest in smart contracts; changes that cannot be continuously denied by traditional art market players. Neue Projects recognises a lack of understanding of the digital space and are focused on educating and safely integrating traditional art market players into the ‘new normal.’ The future starts now, and it starts with the thorough leadership of strong art businesswomen like Margo and Jessica.
