Kate Florence

I see you through through coloured sheets,

through soft and light, where silence sleeps,

to hear the whispers of the ground,

where words and darkness can not be found

Listen then,

Liquid colours hold the key, to where the sounds may be

let your body melt away,

between the folds and shapes,

there we will meet again one day.

About

Kate’s practice has evolved, from embroidery and textiles ,into painting and drawing. Kate’s current practice is an in depth exploration of the phycology behind emotional connections and relationships we form with ourselves and with others.

Working intuitively is very important to Kate and her practice, her colourful works are a conected conversation between a landscape of layers and colour, Kate often applies multiple layers of colours before discovering the ones that sit best with her. Colour is an ever- challenging, ever- evolving medium for Kate, who began to explore the medium just over a year ago., she has been working on trying to house both colour and her signature line work.

Kates latest body of work created for her upcoming Solo exhibition “Scenes of an untold story” at Saint Cloche Gallery in Sydney is a series of experimental paintings, stills that are encompassing layers of form, snippets of a story, with no beginning and no end, moments of play between humans, moments of joy, moments of tenderness. Exploring soft, large areas of colour, layers over layers of paint, each one a building block in time, capturing a moment before evolving into something new.
