MADE IN BED proudly introduces our newest Agents of Change Editor, Arielle Etheridge!

Arielle Etheridge a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and writer currently undertaking an MA in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. She studied Fine Art and Art History at the University of Plymouth, where her academic and creative interests in contemporary Black art, writing and curation were first developed.

Her artistic practice examines her family ancestry connected to slavery and explores race, identity, and gender within the African diaspora. Drawing on personal experience, historical narratives, and cultural traditions, her work challenges dominant narratives and highlights the interconnected identities of the Black Atlantic. Through art, writing, and research-led practice, she is particularly interested in how contemporary Black art is represented and operated within cultural spaces.

Alongside her artistic practice, she is a socially engaged creative professional with a strong background in interpretation, research, curation, event management, and digital content design. She has worked with organisations including Tate, The Box, Plymouth Arts Institute, Mirror Gallery, Beyond Face CIC, Arts Council England, the British Council and the Holburne Museum. She also sits on the board of Plymouth Culture, contributing to strategic thinking around access, equity, and community-led cultural development.

Arielle’s work is driven by a commitment to equality, accessibility, and sustainability with a particular focus on amplifying marginalised voices and contemporary Black artistic practice. As Agents of Change Editor for MADE IN BED, she is interested in writing that critically engages with power, representation, and the lived realities of artists navigating the cultural sector today.
