MADE IN BED proudly introduces our newest Emerging Artists Co-Editor, Laura de Llobet-Verdes!
Before joining the master’s programme in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, I studied Art History and Film & Visual Culture at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. During my studies, I worked as a collection assistant for The Grampian Hospital Art Trust, an institution that, for decades, has collected artworks to integrate them into the hospital setting, aiming to enhance the well-being of patients, families, and staff. This experience allowed me to see firsthand the therapeutic power of art to shape the human experience in the face of trauma.
Throughout my studies, I developed a strong interest in emerging markets within contemporary art, particularly art jewellery, a discipline that challenges traditional hierarchies and notions of artistic value by prioritising concept, experimentation and creative expression over traditional criteria such as design and the use of precious materials.
