MADE IN BED proudly introduces our newest Emerging Artists Co-Editor, Natalia Makri!
Natalia is an MA Art Business student at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London and a Fine Art graduate from Camberwell College of Arts (UAL). After spending the past four years studying and living in London, she has been closely immersed in the city’s art scene, from student-led shows to small project spaces and off-the-radar exhibitions. During her studies, she also exhibited work in London venues including the OXO Tower and Southwark Park Galleries, experience that helped shape her early understanding of how artists navigate visibility and space within the city.
Over time, her interests shifted from studio-based practices towards the wider art ecosystems, particularly how art is communicated, and positioned commercially. This led her to pursue Art Business and to move increasingly into illustration, digital work, and editorial projects. Alongside this shift, she gained experience through working across art fairs, guided tours, and brand-led projects; supporting research and visitor engagement at FOCUS Art Fair, delivering VIP tours at London Art Fair, and working at Ancient Kallos, a Greek fashion brand, on social media, events, and illustration. She also spent time at Action Space at Cockpit Arts Studios, supporting inclusive creative workshops, and taught one-to-one art lessons for two years, driven by a passion for art as a medium, its market, and writing about it.
As Emerging Artists Co-Editor, Natalia’s writing is shaped by close friendships formed during her time in London and ongoing connections with emerging artists. Being part of these creative circles, and watching peers navigate early exhibitions, careers, and opportunities, sparked her desire to write about practices as they develop, often before they reach wider visibility. She also loves travelling across Europe to discover new exhibitions, meet art professionals, and experience different art scenes first-hand.
